THE HACKING OF AN ELECTION

Unfortunately many American’s have no idea of the threat we face in the upcoming 2004 elections. The good news is that the progressive folks in California took action on Friday to address this issue by banning the use of AccuVote-TSx Diebold touch screen voting machines. In case you were not aware, many states (including the battleground states of Florida and Ohio) have instituted touchscreen voting systems for the 2004 presidential race. Unfortunately, these machines are extremely simple to manipulate and there is currently no method of verifying votes, aka. no paper-trail and no means of recounting. The scary thing is that recently Walden O’Dell, CEO of Deibold Inc. – manufacturer of the voting machines sold to Florida and Ohio – was quoted at an Ohio Republican fund-raising event as saying that he is “committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year.” For more info on the details of electronic voting and it’s sordid record pay a visit to Black Box Voting.
