Looks Like America Has Spoken on SS

From the Diary of PLS over at KOS:

A new poll by the Pew Research Center finds that Americans have already agreed on how to fix SS.

By roughly two-to-one (60%-33%), most favor collecting SS taxes on all of a worker’s wages, rather than the first $90,000 earned each year…This idea recieves equal support (roughly six-in-ten) from Republicans, Democrats, and Independants. And as important, the idea gains as much support from people in the high-income households likely to be effected by this change as it does from lower-income households.

The article stated that there is the same across the board support for cutting SS benifits for the wealthy, with 58% of those polled supporting this proposal.

The Dems have a plan staring them in the face.

Diaries :: PLS’s diary ::

Lift the income caps and limit benifits for the wealthy, which a majority of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents favor regardless of income level.

Funny I thought this was the best solution but always suspected that Republicans would be opposed to it. If these poll results hold it would mean that not everyone is as interested in destroying Social Security as Dubya and Grover Norquist.
