It’s The Economy Stupid

With all Washington’s attention focused on the Bolton nomination and the DeLay scandal an increasingly enormous political story is getting all but ignored. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past several months you know that gas prices are at an all time high, inflation is on the rise, the stock market is floundering, and unfortunately your pay check has likely done nothing to reflect these changes.

This is THE opportunity the Democrats need to regain those precious seats during the upcoming mid-term election, if only they can react quick enough to take advantage of it. The most important thing for my policy making friends in Washington as well as in State capitals around the nation to note is this,

“People feel vulnerable and besieged,” said Lawrence Mishel, president of the labor-oriented Economic Policy Institute, “and they don’t hear anybody talking about it.”

Hint, hint. Get on the ball folks, this is your area of expertise. If the Democrats can’t win on the economy then they should dig that grave now because that’s their bread and butter baby.
