She Really Said That

Right this very moment, I’m checking out “This Week” with George S. Surrounded by ten young American Catholics, George is grilling them about the direction the church may take after the new Pope has been named. The segment was on for not five minutes when I have heard the most uneducated, most retarded statement since El Presidente discovered the newspaper. Now, I’m going to ask you to read very carefully. This is something spoken by a Catholic, American, college student. Remember, read carefully.

“A condom is not going to stop you from getting AIDS.”

I had to turn to my wife and ask her first that the young woman on my television actually said that. She nodded. “That’s wrong, right?” I ventured further, because by this point I was beginning to think that I was in Bizzarro World or something. No, my wife nodded again.

The truth of the matter is that a condom will stop AIDS about 99.9% of the time, and if memory serves me correctly, both pregnancy and AIDS have always been prevented when the condom has been properly used.

Man, that absitinence only education sure is educational, isn’t it?
