Newsweek Backtrack

So it would appear that under significant pressure Newsweek has issued an apology for any errors that may have appeared in their story about Koran desecration at Guantanamo Bay. What I find funny is there does not seem to be an apology or a retraction of the facts, simply a we are sorry if there were any errors statement.

“We regret that we got any part of our story wrong, and extend our sympathies to victims of the violence and to the U.S. soldiers caught in its midst.”

Not surprisingly the right wing blogosphere has picked up on this story and is making every effort possible to pin Michael Isikoff with the liberal bias label. One more example of diversionary fire from the right, whenever something pops up that will make them look bad they do two things; drag their feet in search of a scapegoat, and direct fire from every direction at that scapegoat in an effort to divert attention away from them. I have no doubt that in the current media climate dominated by people trying to see who can be more right-wing than FoxNEWS that this story will be around for a long time.

The question is, will they be successful in using it as a smoke screen to cover up the Bolton and Nuclear Option debates that should headline this week?
