Diversionary Tactics – Rove

I caught a little bit of Good Morning America this morning and Sam Donaldson had something curious to say about the Rove CIA outing story. His take was that the right is mobilizing to try and spin the story so that it would appear Rove and the White House were the good guys and the media were the bad guys. What he said was that they are claiming Rove was trying to stop some rougue reporters from leaking the name of Valerie Plame (Wilson). I find this tactic utterly reprehensible particluarly since it was Rove who said “Wilson’s wife is fair game.”

Amazingly the story is already out there today, here is a clip from the ABC News website:

Chief presidential adviser Karl Rove testified to a grand jury that he talked with two journalists before they divulged the identity of an undercover CIA officer but that he originally learned about the operative from the news media and not government sources, according to a person briefed on the testimony.

Are you shitting me? If this one sticks I will have lost all faith in humanity. He learned of her identity from the media? Argh!
