CNN is reporting that a Federal Air Marshall has opened fire on a flight originating from Columbia. More details to come.
MIAMI, Florida (CNN) — A weapon was fired on an American Airlines plane as it was on the runway at Miami International Airport on Wednesday, authorities confirmed.
The weapon was apparently fired by a federal air marshal on board the plane, which was on a stopover during a flight from Medellin, Colombia, to Orlando, Florida, police said.
The Boeing 757 was due to take off for Orlando at 2:18 p.m. ET.
2:51 PM – According to American Airlines the incident happened in the jetway on the ground in Miami, not on the flight.
3:10 PM – They are now reporting that the passenger claimed to have a bomb. When the person did not respond to the Marshall’s two warnings, then reached into his bag, the Marshall opened fire.
3:20 PM – CNN is now reporting from two different sources that the passenger is dead.
