Pennacchio Returns to Pittsburgh

Back in early April I introduced you to the Democract I am supporting to challenge Rick Santorum for the right to call himself the Junior Senator from Pennsylvania, Chuck Pennacchio. Since that first visit to Western PA Chuck has returned three more times lifting a pint or two at Drinking Liberally, rubbing elbows at a house party on the South Side, and sharing some cake on his birthday with the folks from Progress Pittsburgh. Every time Chuck comes this way he wins over more supporters with his charm, charisma, and dedication to core (big D) Democratic principles. Now, with the primaries rapidly approaching, Chuck is heading our way once again.

As a precursor to his visit Monday he will be on KDKA 1020 AM this evening at 6:00 PM.

Chris Moore of KDKA (1020 AM) Pittsburgh will interview Chuck about his run for U.S. Senate and why the upcoming May 16 primary is so important for Pennsylvanians. If you’ve not yet had a chance to see him on one of his western PA stops, tune in and hear why Chuck is the real Democrat to send Rick Santorum back home to Virginia.

Once he arrives in Pittsburgh, Chuck will spend Monday and Tuesday around town meeting people and trying to get his message out. If you wish to meet him in person he will be at the Beehive Coffeehouse on the South Side from 8-10 PM Monday December 12.

For a great breakdown of the importance of this election – and one hell of a ringing endorsement – check out this post at Booman Tribune. In addition, please take the time to read this article in the Boston Globe,

IN WASHINGTON, Democrats are challenging the nomination of Samuel A. Alito Jr. to the Supreme Court because he opposes abortion. In Pennsylvania, those same Democrats are working to help Robert P. Casey Jr. topple Republican Senator Rick Santorum — because Casey opposes abortion.

and this article in The Times-Tribune of Scranton,

Chuck Pennacchio is openly against the war in Iraq and never would have authorized the president to invade.

He’s for a woman’s right to choose an abortion and universal health care. He’s also for allowing civil unions between gay couples, but against a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman and the federal law that restricts gay marriage.

Which, he thinks, makes him a better choice than state Treasurer Robert P. Casey Jr. to be the Democratic Party nominee against Republican incumbent Sen. Rick Santorum in the 2006 Senate election. On each issue, he believes, a majority of Pennsylvanians feel as he does.

If you have any suggestions on a group or event you would like see Chuck attend please drop me a note in the comments section. Lastly, I will be running around with him while he is here so if you can make it out to the Beehive I would very much like to say hello in person as well.
