Senate’s Effort On Gonzales…

Congressional Democrats are leading the charge in seeking a vote of no confidence in Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. And the thing is, it’s very likely that they will get it, as the Democratic vote is almost assured, and more and more Republican senators are jumping on the down with Gonzo bandwagon.

But this may not be enough. With the testimony from former Deputy Attorney General James Comey that I mentioned during the Falwell Dump on Tuesday, many constitutional scholars are now saying that the troubles that began at the DoJ go a little higher up than Gonzo.

The key thing that we learned from Comey is that the Administration gave the OK to the NSA to move on warrantless wiretapping without approval from the DoJ. The problem… this isn’t exactly legal, and what some constitutional scholars are calling a very impeachable offense.
