Not Everyone Hates Gay

(h/t Shamanic of the Newshoggers)

In a victory for gay rights, an attempt by right wing anti-homosexual activists to impose a ban on homosexual marriage, in the state where it is legal for gays to wed, has been utterly killed, falling five votes short of the votes needed to get the motion put on the 2008 ballot.

The victory does not lie only in the defeat of the proposal, but also in the wide support against it, the final legislative vote coming to 151-45, a very clear statement from the Massachusetts legislators and public that maybe allowing gay people to marry won’t result in the end of the world.
