		<description>Thanks for putting this together, Kyle.  It&#039;s an extremely important story that (much like any story primarily involving women of the brown persuasion) gets lost in the margins, overshadowed by suicide bombings and the (information) &#039;surge&#039;.  The West (in unwitting concert with Saddam) set Iraq on the path to cultural implosion with sanctions and expertly finished the job with the ill-begotten invasion and (horribly bungled) occupation.  

Now, thanks to 15 years of willful indifference and reckless endangerment, Iraq is a failed state, full stop.  Heck&#039;uva job, Mission Accomplished, etc.

&#039;Vanity&#039; war, indeed.  I&#039;m not religious at all, but after reading this post, I&#039;m reminded of this passage from the Bible, Ecclesiastes 1:11:
 &quot;&lt;i&gt;There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.&lt;/i&gt;&quot;</description>
