Something Light for a Saturday Night: “Are You Still Up on the East Coast?”

A number of indy acts facing high-expectations due to prior success are dropping new albums in August and September. Stars, The New Pornographers and Joe Henry are just three who face the high hurdle of their own pasts.

Another is Okkervil River. Their new release – The Stage Names – dropped on Tuesday and is available on emusic right out the gate. It is a very good album and I highly recommend it. Only time will tell if it lives up to their 2005 masterpiece Black Sheep Boy. That album was a “10” and my initial assessment is their new album is a “9.”

Unfortunately, I could not find a video for their new songs. So this week I’m giving you Okkervil River’s “For Real” from the aforementioned Black Sheep Boy album.

  1. All you need to put between the video paramters is this part http://www.youtube.com/v/JDd4KezAFv8

    Fixing it for you now.

  2. Also, it needs to be done in the code tab not the visual tab.

I did try posting the url between the video codes. I think you have diagnosed the problem with your second note. I don’t believe I was in the code tab when I tried this earlier.

    Up late, huh? Thanks, Bro.

  4. I almost forgot, tf you go to the YouTube page for a video, on the right hand side below the “Subscribe” button there is a link that says “more info.” Clicking this will show you the actual URL for the video (as shown in my comment above).

I saw it come up right, so I went in just to see exactly what you did & when I came back out of edit the video was gone.

Went back in through “edit” and saw video tags had disappeared. Manually re-added them while in code tab. Still no success.

  6. Macswain says:

    Never mind.

    It’s back.

  7. Yea, we figured out that there are quite a few old style drive in movie theaters in our area. Who’da thunk it? Anyway, took our daughter to see the Underdog / Simpsons double feature so we are just rolling in. Of course, I had to check the site and saw your predicament. Glad to be of assistance.

    Cheers!
