World’s Oldest Man: “I Don’t Want to Die”

Check out this great piece from the BBC.  It turns out the world’s oldest man, 112 year old Tomoji Tanabe, has been holding the title since January.  Usually, the title holder has the shelf life of a week or two.

It’s hard to tell what’s funnier –

(1) the BBC’s links to related stories which include:”World’s oldest person dies at 116 (12 Dec 06)”; “World’s oldest person dies at 115 (24 Jan 07)” and “World’s oldest person dies at 114 (29 Jan 07).”

or

(2) Tanabe’s quote: “I don’t want to die.”

  1. Mick Arran says:

I don’t know. I’m not even 60 yet and I’m thinkin’, “Ten more years of this shit and I’m outta here.” You know what I’m sayin’?

  2. Screw that I’m in Tanabe’s camp. As soon as someone figures out the immortality thing, I’m hopping on board. I will launch an evil scheme to live forever. But that’s just me; I’m scared to death of… well… death… and spiders… not public speaking, but being naked in public too…
