You know, I only just now remembered you were from the red parts of Mass.

Personally, I am really hoping the Republicans do nominate Giuliani. I mean, I keep waiting for his candidacy to implode, and at this point I just want him to get past that first little hurdle we call the primaries for it to happen. he's a nut, but then they all are.

Not that it matters much, the only candidates of the entire GOP field I even modestly respect would be McCain, Huckabee, and Paul. And before you jump down my throat, when I mean modestly, I mean that in the smallest way possible.

As for old Mitt, he may be jelly, but he shines on camera. On style alone he's a strong candidate, his two weaknesses being his substance and a tendancy to kinda gaffe about.

...

You know I'm starting to feel sorry for ya, Mick. A liberal living in a blue state but a red area, that's gotta suck. I've lived in Red America now for eight years, but at least I get to watch it slowly turn blue.

I believe I've already said I live in a very Republican section of Mass, probably the most Republican, and the thing with Mitt is, if you're thrilled with his campaign pandering, wait 'til you see his in-office pandering. It makes his electioneering flip-flops look rock-steady. He signed virtually anything the lege sent him, no matter what his political stand on it was. For instance, he opposed the state health care bill (it was "socialized medicine") right up to the moment it was obvious it was going to pass, and then took credit for it when he signed it. Even the Republicans around here who'd vote for a warthog with a bad attitude and scabies if the GOP put it on the ballot are pretty disgusted by Ol' Mitt.

Which I suppose means the Dems ought to hope that if a Pub wins, it's Mitt. The guy's jelly thru and thru, so soft and pliable that even the cowards of the DLC would be able to push him around. Zero character meets zero guts - a matchup made in...well, wherever. I wouldn't want to say....
