Wacky Wednesday: Halloween Fun!

Hey guys!  I’m going to take this opportunity to apologize for being a little scarce lately, my schedule got uprooted for a few days, and then I got hit straight between the ideas with my favorite two holidays in the same week: Halloween, and my birthday!

So, in honor of one of my favorite days of the year, let’s have a little fun.

Let’s get business out of the way first.  Before you partake in any of this stuff, get yourself in a nice and dark place, make sure things are good and quiet, and open yourself to the wondrous joy of getting the ever livin’ crap scared out of you.  Good, are you ready?  Let’s do this.

First up, this is a show that my mom has been talking about for years now; we both share the same love for Halloween chills, haunted houses, ghosts, etc.  Now, I’ve seen plenty of ghost investigative shows, but what I think makes Ghost Hunters particularly good is unlike other shows that use cheesy psychics, or seem all too eager to prove paranormal activity, the moonlighting Roto Rooter employees typically come at cases from the opposite angle, trying to debunk hauntings as opposed to prove them.

What results is usually a good and creepy time.  Now, as I’ve said, my mom had been trying to get me to watch for years, but since I don’t have cable, I’ve not had the chance to partake. But thanks to the wonders of all seven internets, non-cable-having folk like myself can enjoy the best television has to offer, and in honor of the holiday, I present an episode I’ve yet to watch (but intend to tonight as soon as everyone is off to bed and I can watch it with the proper mood).

Don’t have forty minutes to get your creep on? That’s okay, the next link is an interactive experience that is guaranteed to get you jumping out of your skull. A flash game that was made some time ago, the House is one hell of a bumpy ride. Done in grainy black and white, complete with the chilling soundtrack. There’s not much to it, just keep clicking at the hotspots, but trust me, you won’t regret it.

Play The House.

Okay, finally, if you’re not really all that into the really creepy stuff. Don’t worry, I got some safe Halloween fun for you too. I found this cool little web toy last year, and figured I’d share it with you folks. Want to carve a pumpkin but don’t feel like trolling through pumpkin patches, and really don’t like all the mess it makes? No problem! Ditch the scoops and safety knives, don’t take the risk of neighborhood kids smashing your Jack-O’-Lantern, and instead carve your very own virtual pumpkin right here.

Well, that’s about it folks. I hope you enjoy, and if I’m lucky, I should have some pictures of the little ones in their Halloween attire, much cuteness to be had there (we dressed them up as Dr. Seuss’s Thing 1 and Thing 2).

Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
