I really think that I’m pushing my luck here, but I’m going to give liveblogging a shot tonight, and we’re going to do it in the comments thread right here. The debate, set in Las Vegas, Nevada is slated to start at 8pm EST, just one hour from now.
As always, anyone willing to jump in is free to do so as long as you don’t spam, and keep it relatively respectful. In the next twenty minutes, I’ll be kicking things off with my usual pregame wrap up, and assuming everything goes off without a hitch, we’ll be starting just as the debates start at 8 O’Clock sharp.
Nobody’s answering the question that was asked. The questioner wanted to know if they would change who’s driving the immigration debate. A great chance to hit the Right and they didn’t take advantage of it.
What do you plan to do save socsec and medicare in light of current conditions.
Obama to the bat.
But you gotta love Kucinich…
on the Patriot Act
I voted against it because I read it.
Obama’s running DLC TP’s straight from Kerry ’04. THERE IS NO CRISIS IN SOCIAL SECURITY.
Obama’s answer for SocSec: payroll, great answer.
Medicare: The only way to fix medicare is work on universal healthcare for prevention to relieve the burden on Medicare.
now, I’m gonna give him credit for trying to tackle the tough question of medicare in a short space, but it’s more complex than that.
Hillary asked to answer charges on Social Security, complete dodge.
Obama – “this is too important” to play with numbers.
Nice slam back at Hilary, let’s see how she recovers.
Obama just leveled Hillary…
holy crap “the top six percent is not the middle class.”
Hillary’s running for the general with the “fiscal responsibility” crap. Obama goes after her for fudging with numbers.
Hillary isn’t defending herself, she is just pressing the bipartisan committee.
I think Obama might just have wrested the win from Hillary on that, that was phenomenal.
There can’t be much more, they’ve got 10 mins left.
Why are we breaking??? This is supposed to be over in like eight minutes?
And here we are for what I hope is the home stretch.
Oh, Dodd. He wouldn’t want a litmus test, and then says he’d have one.
If you are elected president what qualities must a SC justice nominee have? Abortion rights?
Dodd: No litmus tests because they aren’t informed by the experience and knowledge needed to occupy the bench.
Then Wolf Blitzer tries to get a down the line and Biden says he’ll answer the ladies’ questions. Must be a woman, has a right to privacy litmus test, which in his mind protects rvw.
Blitzer just turned a SCOTUS question into an abortion question. Richardson blows right past his trick.
Ha, Wolf is back to demanding a yes/no, this time on abortion.
The insistence on yes/no is what has mired the abortion debate into the slogging war it has been for the last few decades.
There is more to the Supreme Court than abortion. The Republicans have lost sight of that; let’s not get as bad as they are.
Richardson has a stock set of questions.
Kucinich: yes for litmus tests, woman’s right to choose and right to privacy. And then he starts going into the rest of his platform… at first I was wondering what that had to do with anything, but
Dennis is getting good audience response, you gotta give him that.
In the interest of full disclosure, yes, I’m one of the few pro-life liberals still kicking around, so this question is particularly irritating for me.
Okay guys, i’m going to have to go… sorry, it’s been great… catch yall later.
Uniting the country: how will you do it?
Obama: bi-partisan meetings. Doesn’t know what he’s dealing with.
Clinton’s response, hrm… we’ve heard the “I’ll be a uniter, not a divider” speech before…
Cheers Kyle, have a good one!
Hillary and Biden are answering on their resumes. And the war (Biden). “Republicans agree withn us but they’re afraid to take on Bush.”
Yeah, bye Kyle. If it’ll make you feel better, you’re not missing much…so far.
Diamonds or pearls? Seriously?
I hope that question was planted.
Correction. You missed nuttin’. S’ovah.
Nice meeting you, Dynamic. You, too, terry. Later.
Likewise Mick and Terry, cheers.
She didn’t even pick between diamonds or pearls…geez! What’s so hard about that?
Well, I know I’m biased but Obama did good, especially on Social Security and saying HRC shouldn’t play with the numbers. And did he compare her to Mitt & Rudy
Wow…
Always fun reading the liveblogging here.
Thanks.
