Letting Down A Soldier?

Over at ABC’s News Blog, there’s a preview of today’s Senate Armed Services Committee
hearing entitled: “What Happened to Sgt. Cassidy?”

Indiana National Guardsman Sgt. Cassidy was assigned to a Warrior Transition Unit at Fort Knox when he came home from duty.

IN LATE SEPTEMBER Sgt. Cassidy’s family tried to reach him. They kept trying and trying. They called Fort Knox officials repeatedly and finally someone went to his room. HE WAS DEAD.

According to [Senator] Bayh’s staff “IT APPEARS HE MAY HAVE BEEN UNCONSCIOUS IN HIS ROOM FOR SEVERAL DAYS and DEAD FOR AT LEAST SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE BEING DISCOVERED.”

Senator Bayh wants answers, as should we all.
