Pleased to Meet You, Hope You Guess My Name

If you have only been reading Comments from Left Field for the past year or so you would be forgiven for having absolutely no freakin’ clue who the hell I am. The reason is simple, while I am the “editor/proprietor” of this here blog, my contribution as of late has been, well, mediocre at best. There is of course a perfectly good reason for this but it is certainly no consolation to the men who have carried the load in my stead; Kyle, Macswain, Matttbastard and Mick.

Let me first say thank you to the aforementioned lot of dedicated bloggers. These guys have become family to me and their contribution is invaluable. As it happens, we try to communicate regularly in the background via SMS, IM, email and sometimes phone with the intention of ensuring some sense of direction on the site. The good news is that in the process of picking these astute word smiths for participation at CFLF I promised each of them full editorial license to write whatever they like and as such they have not needed much direction.

Anyway, on to why I am writing this post.

Some time around early September 2007 I accepted an internal job transfer from my home of the past nine years, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia. This move, the job change itself and the subsequent life changes that were forced upon my family and me have consumed my time sufficiently since accepting the role. Every waking moment was spent either planning the move, moving, working, dealing with Canadian immigration issues, working, working, working or working.

Needless to say, it has been all consuming.

The good news is now that I am settled into this nice little condo atop Burnaby Mountain, only five boxes remaining to be unpacked or moved to storage (decision to be made at a later date), the time as come to reenter the blogging realm. And none too late I might add.

Some things will likely change a bit. No more local PA political events to participate in as I am now officially and expatriated person. The chances of Kyle coming to visit on a Red Bull fueled road trip are considerably less likely. But I am still a citizen and you bet your ass I will be voting absentee so there is no doubt my participation level at the net-roots will increase dramatically.

So let me reintroduce myself. Hi, my name is Michael and I am the proprietor of this quaint little salon on the inter-webs. Pleased to meet you. I hope to drop in at least once a day from here on out so please do not hesitate to let me know what you think.
