While browsing memeorandum I came across this post entitled Interviewing Six Conservative Female Bloggers on Dating.

Now I know what you are thinking, “why would you even bother clicking that link Mike?”

I guess I am just a masochist.

Money Woes

Created: March 31st, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

One story that broke over the weekend illustrates just how dire the straits for Hillary Clinton really are. As it turns out, she’s been stiffing vendors and services for her campaign events on the tab, and they’re none too pleased about it.

It gets worse, and in a way more ironic, when we learn today that there’s also been something of a snag when it comes to providing her own campaign staff with “affordable, quality health care.” This is particularly bad given the fact that health care is supposed to be one of Hillary’s signature issues and highlights the fact that under her plan, either she or her campaign staff would have to, you know, be punished in some way that hasn’t exactly been made clear quite yet.

Prison Rape

Created: March 31st, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

In today’s culture, the title alone is likely to get a half smirk out of some of you reading this. I had never thought about it before, but prison rape is more often than not portrayed in a humorous fashion in our country. From stand-up to featured films, the severity of the actual occurrence rarely makes its way to the surface.

Instead it is represented by the comedic relief of the absurdly gay-acting guy in prison garb who talks with a lisp and applies lipstick. It’s represented by the ironically named four hundred pound inmate when comedians talk about doing time. Even in a society as sensitive to human rights as ours, this aspect of our prison system walks around in broad daylight with hardly a whisper of protest.

As crazy as politics have gotten lately, I don’t often get the chance to use our “Fucktardary” tag, but No Quarter blogger Larry Johnson allows me to pull it off the shelf, dust it off, and give it a whirl.

Muqtada al Sadr and the Difference Between Democracy Promotion and Dignity Promotion

Created: March 31st, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

For a while, there was quiet. Not total quiet mind you, not the silence of a tomb, but the relative quiet one hears; the soft ringing in the ears after a cacophony of roadside blasts.

This is what Iraq had achieved as of late. The violence had dimmed down to a dull thrum and in the absence of relentless death tolls being reported upon by the mainstream media, those whose political fortunes are tied to success in Iraq had sought to fill that media void with spin of success in Iraq.

If only that’s how things worked.

Chauvinism And The Democratic Primary

Created: March 31st, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

The Telegraph is reporting that Hillary Clinton is attempting to portray calls for her to step down from the Democratic nomination race as an act of mass chauvinism. Now, typically, I take what the Telegraph has to say about anything with a grain of salt, but while this piece may or may not be true in regards to Senator Clinton herself, it cannot be ignored that there are more than a bare few who have regarded such calls as only possible under acts of sexism.

I must beg to differ.

Floodgates

Created: March 31st, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

In the beginning there was inevitability. This was the guiding narrative that was to push Hillary Clinton into the White House, and assisting that narrative would be the apparent clinch that Clinton had on the superdelegate vote. Long before the first primary, many in the punditocracy had suspected that Clinton would stifle any competition using the strong showing of support from the upper echelon of the Democratic party apparatus.

Unfortunately for her, the first Clinton firewall fell some time ago.

Clinton’s Chinese Finger Trap

Created: March 31st, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

I think it very interesting that the day after I mentioned that the Gallup Daily Tracker might be tracking something big on the rise, a new Gallup Daily Tracker points to the biggest lead of either candidate since early February. Back then it was Clinton with the double digit lead over Obama, but now the roles have reversed.

Memo to the man who looks like a rabid mutant infant, James Carville

Created: March 29th, 2008 | Written By: tas

Oy…

So, when asked on Good Friday about Richardson’s rejection of the Clintons [ie: Bill Richardson's endorsement of Obama], the metaphor was too good to pass by. I compared Richardson to Judas Iscariot.

I dunno if you missed the email, Jimmy, but Hillary sure ain’t Jesus.

(And Matthew Dowd is right: Had it been the Fourth of July, I probably would have called him Benedict Arnold.)

And she sure ain’t General Washington, either.

So when you contrast your candidate as the ultimate good fighting against the ultimate evil, then yes, people are going to be pissed off at you — especially since it’s supposed that we’re all on the same side here.

Please droolingly file this under “DUUUURRRRR!”, thank you.

Gallup Daily Tracker: Hint of Something Big, or Just Another Fluctuation?

Created: March 28th, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

I admit, allowing yourself to hang on every tick and bump in Gallup’s daily tracker is bad for the ticker.  A quick glance at the entire trend since February shows that the race has essentially remained even with hardly either candidate appreciably pulling away from the other

That there were times where one candidate was over another was more likely the result of statistical fluctuation, with slight bumps and nods going in one candidate’s direction or another depending on the news of the day.

Friday Blogroll Call: One Among Our Number Will Be Lost FOREVER!!!!

Created: March 28th, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

It’s a sad day in the brief but lucrative history of the Friday Blogroll Call; we have found ourselves in a position where we had to indefinitely remove a blog from our blogroll.  But, as would be in keeping with the circle of life, as one blog must leave us, another is welcomed into the fold.
