At the five year mark, we reach the ominous milestone of 4,000 dead American soldiers in Iraq.

You want find any of the names of the people who pimped hardest for the war on the list of dead. Instead, they claim we should forget the past and listen to them – again -for the best way forward.

It seems, with the surge, the awakening and Sadr ceasefire, we have only been able to reach an equilibrium of one American troop death per day (it’s been steady for six months now). Iraqi civilian deaths are again on the rise and there is no real reconciliation between the numerous sectarian interests anywhere on the horizon. Yet, the media’s silence on the ongoing deaths is misleading many into thinking the surge is a success.
