The Protect Bush’s Ass Act

Mr. 30 percent continued to whine this week about the failure of Congress to cave on Telecom Immunity for the latest round of FISA legislation.  Yet, Kevin Drum smells something amiss and ponders the possibility that the Bush administration gave the Telcos indemnification agreements, i.e. agreements under which the government guarantees to pay any liability and maybe even litigation costs in the event of lawsuits against the Telcos for illegal wiretapping.

I would be shocked if the Telcos attorneys didn’t secure such agreements.  Maybe the media will wake up and ask.  If the answer is “yes,” then the Bushies have been misleading America (again) on the dire need for the new legislation and the only purpose of Telecom immunity is to hide the truth about the extent of the Bushies’ illegal spying on Americans.
