The Ugly Underbelly of Clinton Support

Created: March 11th, 2008 | Written By: Michael Tedesco

It looks as though Geraldine Ferraro has been hanging around Bill Clinton a wee bit too much.

“If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position,” she continued. “And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”

Sadly, this type of comment - based in anger and a mountain of self-ignorance - is all too typical of Hillary Clinton’s support base. She is running a type of campaign catering to the narcissistic baby-boomer still angry about the failed battles of the me generation.

Seeing that Ferraro is a self described member of the Clinton campaign team…

“I’m on Hillary’s finance committee. I’ve done a fundraiser for her here at my firm. And I went and worked the phone banks before Super Tuesday.

a mere distancing from this comment will not suffice. Sadly, I don’t expect we will see her reject or denounce Ferrarro any time soon.

Let’s be clear here. Are we talking “rejecting” or “denouncing” because they’re totally different things here.

No no, Howard Wolfson said they “disagreed” with her statements.

And I don’t know what that means because I don’t have the Clinton dictionary handy.

“We disagree with her,” said spokesman Howard Wolfson.

Got something to say?
