Full **ntal Politics

We’ve all heard of John McCain’s temper, but even this tirade is a bit shocking.

Raw Story has the scoop on McCain’s, uhm pet name for his wife?

Book: McCain temper boiled over in ’92 tirade, called wife a ‘cunt’

The Real McCain by Cliff Schecter, which will arrive in bookstores next month, reports an angry exchange between McCain and his wife that happened in full view of aides and reporters during a 1992 campaign stop. An advance copy of the book was obtained by RAW STORY.

Three reporters from Arizona, on the condition of anonymity, also let me in on another incident involving McCain’s intemperateness. In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain’s hair and said, “You’re getting a little thin up there.” McCain’s face reddened, and he responded, “At least I don’t plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt.” McCain’s excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days.

Now I know I said that I personally wouldn’t use any dirty words here, but jesus.. What’s home life like at the McCain household? “Pass the ham, CUNT!” “Make me a sandwich, CUNT!” “Get me some viagra at the drug store, CUNT!” I mean, what self-respecting man drops a c-bomb directly on their wife… Not just in conversation with other guys (where it’s still highly objectionable, mind you) but in conversation with her.

Then, of course, the media doesn’t report this. But what else is new? For those keeping score at home, Howard Dean letting out one excited scream ruins his presidential campaign, and maybe his career in electoral politics, because the news media jumped up and down screaming “OMIGOD! OMIGOD! DEAN HAS A TEMPER! HE’S ANGRY! HE’S GONNA EXPLODE! THIS MAN IS UNSTABLE! BY GOD, HE SHOWS EMOTION!!” But John McCain drops a c-bomb on his wife and the media goes, “Eh, screw it. Anyone got a good blowjob story?”

In light of stories like this, the next person who tries telling me that the media is liberal is apt to get my fist in their face. For Christ’s sake, can the media do something besides “lick McCain’s asshole clean“?

  1. You know, when I read the headline, I was like, ‘Okay, I can’t say anything, expletive filled spats are how my wife and I show that we love each other’. But I didn’t know he dropped a c-bomb.

    Jebus…

I can’t even write the word, let alone speak it. And it’s not necessarily because I think my wife would care, she’s not the kind of person to be offended, even by a c-bomb. But still, I mean, I couldn’t say it, and trust me, we’ve had some rough times.

    Wow…

Dude, I get chills when someone drops that word.

I was similarly shocked by this. There are certain lines that should NEVER be crossed with a spouse, regardless of what type of relationship one has, because they are unmitigated dealbreakers. This was clearly way past one of those lines.

Frankly, my respect for Cindy McCain — already pretty low, because that whole “gaze adoringly at your husband” tripe only goes so far, and then it becomes chilling in an “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” kind of way — absolutely bottomed-out on this one. I cannot imagine any self-respecting woman letting something like that go by. It speaks to such an abiding lack of consideration (whether uttered publicly or privately) that it would prompt a critical reexamination of the entire arc of one’s relationship.

I’d love to know what happened next. Unfortunately, no excerpt I’ve read reveals that. But honestly, if she didn’t haul off and slug him right there in front of God and everybody, then divorce his ass, her reaction was too mild. It also suggests that this was not an isolated incident.
