Fingers Crossed

This one is HUGE for me.  I don’t live in California, but most of my family lives there, and thus I have a vested interest in how this turns out.

From Andrew Sullivan, it turns out that a long awaited decision by the California Supreme Court is expected tomorrow that will decide whether or not to uphold the right for homosexual couples to get married.

As many of you know, my little brother is gay, and while equality for homosexuals has always been an issue that is close to my heart, the locality of this ruling couldn’t put it any closer.  Damn it, I want to see my little brother get married some day.  I want to be an uncle, and I even want the awkward conversation with my daughters about their two uncles.

Sully further points out that the court order won’t be the end, but the beginning of a fight to be continued this November, but I think that if that’s where this is going, if gay marriages are upheld in court tomorrow, he’s right; there is going to be an ENORMOUS firefight, and damn it all, I’m in.

Tomorrow evening you may find me to be a very happy blogger.
