Go.  Take a quick look at what being irrelevant looks like, come back, and report what you learn.  There will be a quiz at the end of this week.

Man.  I hated this primary, but I am absolutely stoked about this General Election.  Taking retarded right wing talking points like this out at the knees will be a welcome break from being locked in combat with those on the same side of the ‘sphere as I.

When you count in Democrats Abroad and D.C. as well as Puerto Rico and the other territories holding primaries, I’m guessing that the final count comes to. . .wait for it. . .57!

  2. Careless says:

Pr, Guam, DC, American Samoa makes 53 (since Obama wasn’t counting the one state he hadn’t been to), even if he was being ridiculous in calling the territories states. So no, there doesn’t appear to be an excuse aside from a strange mental lapse

Careless, you impelled me to go check it out. Granted, it was a misstatement on Obama’s part to call territories states; there’s no argument about that. I’m just morbidly curious about where the number 57 came from.

Checking CNN’s list of primaries, I come up with the 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, Democrats Abroad, American Samoa, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, and the Northern Marianas. If I’m counting correctly, that totals 57.

(Truthfully, though, I fail to comprehend why territories that are not eligible to vote in the general election get to weigh in during the primary process, but that’s a subject for another discussion. Preferably one that is preceded by straightening out the goofy primary calendar.)
