He said in shorthand what many Democrats have been saying all along. Cool. So we'll vote for the openly sexist rather than those who pretend to be liberals.

And of course, this guy advises the candidate the Clintonites say they will vote for because of Obama's supposed sexism. The candidate himself enjoys calling his wife crude names. Lovely.

This is like the umpteenth example I've seen of a man (usually a man) arguing that sexism wasn't a factor in the campaign, and then letting lose with sexist comments. It seems to be the daily talking points - everyone is saying it right now. Its like the entire political chattering class only has one brain between them, and they pass it around so everyone says the same thing. Like the three witches in Macbeth, with their one eyeball, except in this case the eyeball has a cataract and was left to roll around under the sofa for a few weeks.

I think the facts are pretty plain: the political media elite, mostly men, are very happy with the current state of gender affairs and don't want anything to change. and they are willing to be quite aggressive in their defense of the status quo. their nightmare is that they wake up one morning and a female exec tells them that they need to start reporting with female viewers/ readers in mind, and suddenly there are more female colleagues than male, and they have to talk about issues they think are pointless like access to family planning or Gardisil. It would ruin their clubhouse. It would make them feel less important. No way do they want that to happen. So pretend sexism doesn't exist. Or if it does, it doesn't effect anything important. but mostly, don't ever mention it. no, that wouldn't do at all.

Hey! Thanks for all the great info, I had no idea that a McCain advisor said that! I was browsing through a bunch of political websites and blogs (mostly liberal ones) and I came across your blog and find it to be very interesting. There are a bunch of others I like too, like huff post, and other news sites like politico. Do you know of any that cover politics and the environment? I saw earthlab.com which has mostly environmental info but some politics. I took EarthLab.com’s carbon calculator (http://www.earthlab.com/signupprofile/). It was pretty easy to use (and it doesn’t make me feel guilty after I take it). Are there any other blogs you would recommend? Can you drop me a link to your favorites or any ones with green info?
