		<description>Just like a prison break in Afghanistan should convince us that the Taliban is making a comeback we should similarly be convinced that the publication of a book means that the enire GOP strategy is to smear Barack Obama?

There are plenty of positive things about McCain, not the least of which is the fact that he is better positioned than Obama to run as the candidate of change (Obama dependably votes party line while McCain has longstanding &quot;Maverick&quot; persona, not to mention Obama&#039;s quadruple backflip with 3/4 twist over public financing).  

What you seem eager to overlook, Kyle, is that in a contest that is effectively down to two people, the positive case for one is legitimately built on the weakness of the other.  You may want to categorize Obama&#039;s weaknesses under the heading of &quot;smears&quot;--but isn&#039;t that really just spin if you try to capture all of the criticisms in that box?</description>
