Mark, that's such a great point! I guess he's expecting the 40% (okay, now I'm really being optimistic!) who don't vote for him to revolt or something. Well, I'm game. Let's see this happen!

What's funny about this is that, in order for Obama to become President, he has to get the vote of an awful lot of "European Americans" who, in the process of voting for Obama, will be consciously ignoring their "heritage." Essentially Duke is making the bizarre argument that millions of "European Americans" will vote for Obama and somehow, as a result, want to start a race war. Kooky doesn't even begin to describe it.
Honestly, logic like this is why the political Left really should lighten up on its concerns about racism in the sphere of public debate- it's so utterly ridiculous that the only logical response for most people is to scratch their heads and laugh at these idiots.
(I say this as part of my pursuit of a Left-libertarian alliance; one of the big hang-ups that a lot of libertarians have on that front is political correctness - of course they ignore that the political Right has their own share of politically correct taboos. But still, it would make my mission a hell of a lot easier if some on the left would stand up and say something like "We think Mark Steyn is a complete moron; but what the Canadian Human Rights Commission is doing is an affront to every conceivable notion of freedom.")

Of course these people take themselves too seriously. That's why I'm kind of of the opinion, okay, you want to see Obama in the White House so badly, work for it! Ah well.

They're taking themselves way too seriously, in my opinion. Not to say racism isn't a very big problem. But I think it mostly stems from ignorance; the kind of racism that these people peddle is pathological and evil, and I just don't believe there's enough of it simmering beneath the surface to "erupt" as they believe. Instead, I think if Obama is elected and does some real good for the country, it could heal race-relations. Maybe those people in WV who said they'd never vote for a black man will reconsider next time after seeing that the 1st black guy actually made their lives a little better. Maybe. But I'm an optimist :)
