Broken-Hearted, But Back
Here is a quick post to let you all know that I am back. I have not been online for the past week because I moved on Friday, August 8, and because of a series of complications (cable company scheduling screw-ups and cable technician incompetence and unprofessionalism), did not have an Internet connection — or phone service, because I use Vonage — until about 30 minutes ago.
This move was very stressful for a number of reasons, including but not limited to the above, but the worst part is that I lost two beloved animal companions in the space of five days. My cat, Mystic, died Sunday evening, probably from a recurrence of feline mammary cancer (a malignant tumor was removed about six months ago, but this particular type of cancer is extremely aggressive in cats, and in 85% of the cases, comes back even if all cancerous tissue is removed). And my dog, a beagle named Shiloh, died this morning of advanced liver and kidney failure, which was diagnosed only days ago because up until last week I had no idea anything was seriously wrong with him.
Needless to say, the loss is devastating. Just days before I made this move, I had four animals — now I have two. I can only hope that being able to blog again and get back to income-producing work (most of which requires me to be online) will help me get through the next few weeks and months.
