I think these stories about McCain don't receive much play because Obama's campaign has tried not to focus on negative attacks. I mean, I hadn't heard about Donald Diamond until your comment -- the Obama campaign certainly hasn't made any issue of it. And our wonderous media, being as liberal as ever, won't touch the story as much as the grope stories about Rezko or Pastor Wright. I mean, how come I know who Obama's pastor is yet we hardly hear anything about McCain cheating on his first wife then dumping her to marry the richest woman in Arizona?

But when a guy can't remember how many fucking houses he owns, all bets are off. That's a story too ridiculous for the media not to cover. And the wild haymaker responses from his campaign are even worse... Claiming this is an attack on McCain's wife. Fucking please. The finances of a wedded couple are joint; and besides that, these fucking assholes can't stop talking about how unpatriotic Michelle Obama is. Fuck them. I think we're about to see where the line between not wanting to run a negative campaign, and not taking a sucker punch without striking back, is drawn.

Keating is bad, but it isn't the only time ol McSame has acted with a seeming inpropriety. Take the case of Donald Diamond, "who has raised more than $250,000 for the (McCain) campaign, made a $20 million profit on a land deal that was made with the help of McCain's senate staff. And McCain has done more than just open doors for Diamond. Over the years he has either sponsored or co-sponsored bills that authorized federal land swaps that were to the advantage of Diamond, one where the government paid him $23 million for land appraised at $5 million. And yet, according to a McCain spokeswoman, he "had done nothing for Mr. Diamond that he would not do for any other Arizona citizen.'' Yes, just another average Joe who happened to donate over $55,000 to McCain campaigns, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for his presidential bid, vacationed with him in the Bahamas and attended World Series games together...just another Arizona citizen---Washington Post."

As for elitism, what could be more elite than cindy's comment that the "only" way to get around in Arizona is by private plane, not to mention racking up $750,000 in a month on just one of her credit cards, and McCain's $525 shoes. The press does give some play to these stories, but either the Democrats don't expoit them or, the more sinister explanation, the American public doesn't care about this sort of elitism because McCain and wife are white and therefore not "uppidity" or maybe it is the Fact that McCain plays the Hanoi Hilton card (despite his denials of doing so) at every opportunity, and somehow that exempts him from the standard held to the Obamas. It is truly stunning that McCain can get away with claiming $5 million as being"rich," and that his chief economic advisor can claim that we are in a "mental recession" and characterizes Americans as a bunch of "whiners", and yet that none of this appears to resonant with a public that has turned (at least according to the pollsters) against the Republicans is mind boggling.
