John McCain’s Uncontrolled Temper

We’ve all heard about it and read about it. McClatchy has an article about it, in which they mention, among many incidents, one that took place at a Senate hearing in 1992, where McCain verbally savaged the chairperson of the National Alliance of Families for the Return of America’s Missing Servicemen and Women. Her name is Dolores Alfond; her brother went missing in action in 1967 and remains so to this day. McCain treated her as if he were a prosecutor cross-examining a hostile witness. He reduced her to tears, and kept on going.

Here is the video:

  1. I love this post. People only remember what they want to, especially given the passage of over 15 years in this case.

Got to love those Coke-bottle glasses too.

This is an interesting clip – not so much for the value of seeing McCain lose his temper (I’m guessing a lot of people won’t see this as an inappropriate angry outburst) but to see how he deals with criticism. He’s a petulant bully – just like the current White House occupant. If anyone can watch this and still think that things will “change” with a McCain election, they are seriously deluded. Here’s a man who can’t stand to have his judgement questioned. He can’t stand to face facts that conflict with his perception. And he is seriously messed up by the whole war experience. This man doesn’t need to be president, he needs to be in a therapists office a couple times a week.

This is the true “maverick” — the one who wants to wraps himself in the flag as a P.O.W. “hero” but somehow never extends that respect to other veterans in his behavior or policies.

McCain is so full of shit it’s hard to know where to begin.
