Um, Change?

Astute reader Radical Moderate, in comments to this post, picks up on something that almost slipped by Josh Marshall; John McCain actually made a call to end unemployment insurance.

The exact quote was:

I know some of you have been left behind in the changing economy and it often seems your government hasn’t even noticed. Government assistance for unemployed workers was designed for the economy of the 1950s. That’s going to change on my watch.

Um, how exactly was he planning on changing that?  I would really like a little more detail on that kind of change, because, you know, I probably know a person here or there that could probably use that unemployment insurance through no fault of their own, and given the economy, and John McCain’s promise to “stand up and fight” I’m a little too worried that by “change” McCain means “end.”

That would, after all, be well in keeping with the on your ownership society.

8 is enough, McCain has voted with Bush 90% of the time. Watch this video to decide for yourself:

See how Obama lays out “exactly what change would mean if I were president”. I must have missed the part of the McCain speech where he talked about any detailed plans for our country.
