Be Scared, Be Very Scared

Here is the Wall Street Journal, doing its best to warn the millions of untutored Americans out there who just don’t understand the evil they are about to unleash:

If the current polls hold, Barack Obama will win the White House on November 4 and Democrats will consolidate their Congressional majorities, probably with a filibuster-proof Senate or very close to it. Without the ability to filibuster, the Senate would become like the House, able to pass whatever the majority wants.

Though we doubt most Americans realize it, this would be one of the most profound political and ideological shifts in U.S. history. Liberals would dominate the entire government in a way they haven’t since 1965, or 1933. In other words, the election would mark the restoration of the activist government that fell out of public favor in the 1970s. If the U.S. really is entering a period of unchecked left-wing ascendancy, Americans at least ought to understand what they will be getting, especially with the media cheering it all on.

Here are just some of the horrors working class and middle class Americans can expect from a filibuster-proof Democratic Senate:

  • Prescription drug price controls
  • Stronger labor and trade unions
  • Congressional representation for Americans who live in Washington, D.C.
  • Renegotiation of mortgages to allow bankrupt Americans to stay in their homes
  • Eliminating filing deadline requirements for employment discrimination lawsuits that punish workers who don’t find out about the discrimination in time to file
  • Barring funding for Iraq war
  • Taxing oil companies on windfall profits

Have you lost control of your bladder from sheer terror yet? If not, this should do it:

Medicare for all. When HillaryCare cratered in 1994, the Democrats concluded they had overreached, so they carved up the old agenda into smaller incremental steps, such as Schip for children. A strongly Democratic Congress is now likely to lay the final flagstones on the path to government-run health insurance from cradle to grave.

Mr. Obama wants to build a public insurance program, modeled after Medicare and open to everyone of any income. According to the Lewin Group, the gold standard of health policy analysis, the Obama plan would shift between 32 million and 52 million from private coverage to the huge new entitlement. Like Medicare or the Canadian system, this would never be repealed.

The commitments would start slow, so as not to cause immediate alarm. But as U.S. health-care spending flowed into the default government options, taxes would have to rise or services would be rationed, or both. Single payer is the inevitable next step, as Mr. Obama has already said is his ultimate ideal.

I have bolded the scariest parts — although you hardly need such props to see how hair-raisingly terrifying this all is. I don’t know about you all, but that bit about “government-run health insurance from cradle to grave” is what did me in. Just thinking about that — guaranteed universal health insurance for everyone (that’s what universal means, right?) from cradle to grave….  I just can’t take this level of fear anymore. I’m hyperventilating and my heart is threatening to explode right out of my chest. I think I’m going to crawl into bed, curl up in a fetal position, and pull the covers over my head.

Tell me when the single-payer people are gone, so I know it’s safe to come out.

Sounds like the Wall Street Journal is expecting a good night for Democrats, no?

Sarah Palin’s recent comments to a crowd about “Pro-American parts of the country” is confirmation that the Republican Party has always been adept and evily clever at pitting one segment of America society against the other in a “divide and conquer” rule. I am so glad they are being found out!

However it was a Wise and Judicious Barack Obama in 2004 who spoke these Uniting words in regards to America’s oneness and what we can be:

“Even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. Well, I say to them tonight, there’s not a liberal America and a conservative America; there’s the United States of America. There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America. The pundits, the pundits like to slice and dice our country into red states and blue States: red states for Republicans, blue States for Democrats. But I’ve got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the blue states, and we don’t like federal agents poking around our libraries in the red states. We coach little league in the blue states and, yes, we’ve got some gay friends in the red states.” –Obama, 2004.

It should be a crime against the American Public and a Betrayal of the Public Trust for McCain and Republicans to be able to get away with obvious lies and distortions by false and misleading Robocalls which try to link an 8 year old Barack Obama with acts committed by Ayers over 30 years ago. It is down right dishonest, dishonorable and misleading. There should be laws against this type of unethical behavior to knowing lie and mislead for gain. This is like one lying on their Resume when applying for a job. It is moraly wrong and unethical!

As for Joe the Plumber who lied to Barack when he falsely said, “I’m getting ready to buy a company that makes $250,000 to $280,000 a year,” “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” when it has been reported that Joe makes $45,000 a year and owes back taxes! This is the very middle-class person Barack Obama’s tax plan would help! And Joe the Plumber belies the fact that if one has $250,000.00 dollars to invest in a business, and because he has to pay his fair share of taxes, he is unable to Purchase that business, he is just plain greedy because middle-class people deserve a break especially now after 8 years of paying more than their fair share while the rich got away scott free and devastated the economy to boot!

While I’ve been largely away on work duties I have to admit I, a straight-ticket voting democrat this year, am a bit worried about a single-party supermajority. My one concern? That the anti-gun advocates will successfully push legislation through that makes my Berrett .338 or it’s blast suppressor illegal.

Is that enough to make me vote Republican? Absolutely not. The NRA doesn’t have a monopoly on gun rights. But it does mean I’ll be watching my elected officials carefully after November.

I left the following comment at the NYT

“In your opinion “A Liberal Supermajority” you end by saying Americans voting for “change” should know they may get far more than they ever imagined.

This 67 year old, retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer sure hopes so. Medicare works great. Everyone should have that option from Day One. My Dad was a union man his whole life. Unions helped bring prosperity to America. I served 21 years in the Navy. Viet Nam was a horrible mistake. Iraq is another magnitude worse than Viet Nam. Oil companies SHOULD pay more for the privilege and protections they get by being based in America. Most prescriptions cost far too much. The federal gov’ts purchasing power should be used to drive down prices.

And, by the way, I’ve already Early Voted for Obama.”

Chief, why did you leave the comment at the New York Times?
