You guys are ridiculous. Small town values she was referring to is good old American Values and patriotism that a lot of us big city people have gotten away from. If you can't see that big city folks (as a whole) have lost a lot of patriotism then open your eyes. I too have served my country in the Marines and in the Army for nine years of my life and did a tour in Afghanistan, I've also have been born and raised in Los Angeles, Ca and I see anti American liberal values everyday here and it makes me sick. For you that said this is a dog whistle to the racist, at least that's the way I read it, is just plain ignorant. Being that I've been all over the states in the military I have seen and lived in these small towns through out my military tours and I will tell you that small towns are more patriotic for the most part then bigger cities. You guys could Palin bash til your hearts are content by saying while you were waking up at 0500 on an aircraft carrier she was in beauty pageants, so friggin what. Good for you for serving, my hats off to you but you can't deny the good she has done. She's a patriot and maybe she doesn't have the experience that is desired to be VP but she definatly has the right stuff and extreme love for America. Let's not get into what these candidates were doing while some of us were waking up in the cold rain slapping us in the when we were in the military serving our country. Let's not talk what Obama has been doing ie. clutching the Koran or befriending left wing radical terrorist like Ayers or being under a racist pastor that said, "God Damn America" and other anti American quotes. Obama sat under this fool for twenty years and claimed he had no idea that this man was the racist that he was. That's a bald face lie to America as much as Clinton's speech saying he did not have sexual relations with that woman. Don't get me started. Let's talk about Obama's VP candidate, yeah the one that before running with Obama said that he doesn't think Obama is qualified nor has the experience. Now that he's on the same ticket embraces Obama. This guy is the third most left wing idiot on the senate. Go ahead and vote for these clowns and if Obama wins you will ask yourself what you were thinking when your taxes sky rocket. "Spread the wealth" is what Obama was quoted saying. Do you work hard for your money? Do you want to give it to that sap that quit school and smoked pot while you were in the trenches serving your country? I know I don't, to be quite frank, I'm tired of my tax dollars being given to losers who haven't worked a day in their lives. With Obama you will be taxed ten fold. Don't believe everything that comes out of his mouth, look at his history, beware of the wolf in sheep's clothing. God bless!

I grew up in a rural area not far at all from Stockton. I've lived in big cities in California and Texas the rest of my life and I'm also damn sick of this small town values garbage. I grew up with those values and I don't find the values of pople in big cities any different.

Sarah Palin is the most divisive candidate for high office in my lifetime, worse even than Nixon. John McCain has run the dirtiest mud-slinging campaign I ever remember. He should not be forgiven for it after election day.

[...] Here’s Left Field, feeling defensive: Damn it! You know, I feel like such a broken record; we do this over and over again, and yet this is the game that Republicans like to play. For Republicans, only certain people in this country get to be patriotic, and I’m frankly sick and tired of this crap.
I think the moose stew has gone to her brain.

I agree with DrGail, though. Palin is playing the race card in a subtle way. "Small town America" is always code for "We're gonna make America look like a sitcom from the 50's!" Of course, those sitcoms never had anybody but white people in them.

True.

You know, the one other thing I wanted to point out about Pro America Palin?

When she was of the age I was when I was getting up every morning at five in the morning on board an aircraft carrier, she was competing in beauty pageants and doing the sports on the local evening news.

I really don't think she has the right to question my patriotism.

Sorry, I know that wasn't relevant, but I had to mention it anyway.

They don't care about your time in the military, and the fact that you aren't from a small town matters not a whit.

The talk at these rallies about being pro-America and having small-town values is a dog-whistle to the racists and other assorted haters. Since you're not a dog, quite honestly you're not expected to hear the dog-whistle.

Don't ever expect unconditional love from folks who are incapable of extending it.
