Need a good laugh?

Using the Internet for research can be dangerous because there’s just so much out there to sidetrack one’s thoughts…  For example, I inadvertently ran into Conservapedia a few minutes ago.  This is the wingnut response to Wikipedia because, you know, Wikipedia is just too liberally biased.  Conservapedia, however, bills itself as “The Trustworthy Encyclopedia,” so how can you go wrong?!

The table of content headings themselves are hilarious before even getting to the actual content.  For example, under their entry for “homosexual“:

22  Homesexual Agenda

22.1  The Marketing of Evil

Certainly no bias there.  And when it comes to Obama, Conservapedia shows us just how trustworthy they are!

If elected, Obama would become the first person having ties to a known terrorist to gain control over America’s atom bombs. […]

Obama has not disclosed who really wrote his so-called autobiography, “Dreams From My Father,” but a comparison of his speaking with that book indicates the unlikelihood that he wrote it. In fact, a computer analysis strongly suggests that Obama’s friend, the terrorist Bill Ayers, was the author of key parts of the book. [tasnote: usually the byline discloses who the author of a book is, dipshits.] […]

Obama and Islam

If elected, Obama would likely become the first Muslim President, and could use the Koran to be sworn into office.[12][13] The overwhelming evidence that he is a Muslim includes: […]

* Obama uses the Muslim Pakistani pronunciation for “Pakistan” rather than the common American one. […]

* On the campaign trail Obama has been reading “The Post-American World” by Fareed Zakaria,[21] which is written from a Muslim point-of-view. [tasnote: Newsweek editor Zakaria is also considered a conservative by some; he’s a great writer, too. but I guess that doesn’t matter when you’re MUSLIM!@#] […]

* Obama’s background and education are Muslim, and fewer than 1% of Muslims convert to Christianity. […]

* Obama’s middle name means “a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad,” which most Christians would not retain.

And so on, and so forth…  For the record on that last point, Obama’s first name is of Arabic orgin, too* — but since it’s not related to the grandson of Muhammad or somebody named Saddam, nobody seems to care.

Read up if you can laugh without being disgusted.  I can’t continue, though, because homework doesn’t do itself.

* – “Barack” is related to the Arabic root B-R-K, meaning “blessed“.  Fot those wingnuts who think Obama has a messiah complex, I’m surprised they haven’t latched onto this trivia tidbit and screamed themselves off until they’re blue in the face.  For those wondering what Arabic word roots are, I discuss them (and how frustrating they are) here.
