Thirteen And A Wake Up

This is now.  We do control ourselves and we do control our destinies.  It is officially two weeks from election day and now is the time.  Now is the time when we have to ask ourselves if there is something more we could to make sure Barack Obama is elected President of the United States on November 4th.

This is now, and these are your marching orders.  Do you have a little extra change?  It doesn’t matter how much, if you got anything to spare, we need that money right now to make sure that we keep this campaign on the path to victory.  So if you can, please please please donate.

If you can’t, it’s okay.  It really is.  If you don’t have the money, donate your time, find your local Obama field office and give them a hand.  My local field office is always busy, but they can always use more help.  It’s not sexy, it’s not adventurous; you’re not going to walk into the office and jump into high level strategy talks.  No, you’ll probably get plopped down in front of a phone, or you’ll be putting together canvassing booklets or making yard signs, but believe me, this stuff is just as important.  Yesterday I walked in to the field office to pick up some lawn signs.  They told me they had so few they could only give out one per person.

So I stayed and made sixty lawn signs and took three.  Your work matters, even if it seems like it doesn’t.

And remember, keep talking to your neighbors and your coworkers.  If you come across someone who won’t vote for Obama, ask them why and address their concerns.  There are so many people right now operating under so many distortions and misconceptions that just the five minutes it takes to correct someone on the relationship between Obama and Ayers, or whether or not Obama is a closet socialist or Muslim could change a vote (I know for a fact that I’ve personally changed a couple of minds on their votes in recent days).

So get out there, and remember, you don’t want to wake up on November 5th, John McCain as our president elect, and you asking yourself, “what more could I have done?”  We’ve only got thirteen days and a wake up left, so dig deep and get out there and work!

You have your orders.
