There’s a price I pay for doing most of my blogging at work where YouTube is firewalled.  Yesterday, I wrote about a campaign stump speech of McCain’s where he said that there’s no part of this country more patriotic and god-loving than Western Pennsylvania.  What I missed out on was the complete and total train wreck that little episode was.

I’m not sure what’s funnier; watching McCain dribble all over himself trying to recover from a trainwreck of a statement, or the total confusion of the audience as it’s happening.  You almost get the impression that they’re all standing there, looking at each other and whispering, “Wait…  What’d he just say?”

Oh my God. I’m laughing and it really is tragic. This is as bad as the “My fellow prisoners” gaffe.

  2. Actually I think this could be worse. I mean with “my fellow prisoners,” McCain just kept pushing on… he didn’t even recognize the gaffe. This time, he just couldn’t get past it, and you almost get the impression that the panderfest that came at the end was his way of making up for the verbal pretzel he twisted himself into right before.

Also, it sounds almost like he was about to let an f-bomb drop right there towards the end.

Finally, I don’t laugh anymore. I think all my laughter has been used up for the year.
