When Dick Durbin was making his first run to succeed Paul Simon in the Senate, Mrs Chief and I went to a fund raiser at Senator Simon's private residence. We met more than one dignitary that day including the prime entertainment, who is now running for a senate seat from Minnesota, Al Franken, who by the waydid a mean impersonation of Senator Simon. I did not realize Sen Durbin was old enough to have a 40 year old daughter. My condolences to her husband & son and the Senator and his family. I met the lady.
