I had totally forgotten about the DC sniper shootings when I wrote that post. But here's one even I often forget about (although I doubt I would be so absent-minded if I lived in the DC area): the DC snipers. And one of them was even a Muslim. I wonder why this occurrence -- which was truly frightening over its two month duration -- seems to have passed from memory. Perhaps it's because these were home-grown terrorists, and therefore doesn't fit the frame about scary brown people coming from overseas to kill us all in our beds so we better go invade their country and kill them first?
