Good News! Less Money for Schools in Alaska!

Here is John at Power Line exulting at Sarah Palin’s announcement that she’s turning down hundreds of millions in stimulus funds — including about $160 million for education (emphasis is mine):

Governor Sarah Palin has rejected around $416 in federal pork (“stimulus”) funds. Accounts vary, but the Anchorage Daily News says that’s around 45 percent of the total:

“We are not requesting funds intended to just grow government. We are not requesting more money for normal day-to-day operations of government as part of this economic stimulus package. In essence we say no to operating funds for more positions in government,” Palin said.

The biggest single chunk of stimulus money that Palin is turning down is $160 million for education.

That’s great. Kudos to Governor Palin.

John is happy that Alaskan teachers will continue to be laid off. He is happy that there will be less money for education in Alaska.

Every single day, I marvel at the things that gladden conservatives’ hearts. Republicans are a sad and twisted lot.

As a dominionist Palin has no intention of helping public schools, in fact quite the opposite, it is their intention to see the public school system completely collapse. It was the dominionists who originated the whole home schooling movement and as of right now there is an estimated 22 million children being home schooled across the United States, and of those it is estimated that 90% of those children are members of extreme evangelical churches.

When people in Alaska say that they have not seen any sign of her dominionist religious beliefs asserted into her politics, let this be just ONE example that cannot be overlooked.

Dominionists have as much respect for public education as they do social programs, the plight of the poor and indigent, all secular institutions in general. They believe the ends justifies the means and their propaganda about less government REALLY means – less SECULAR government.

If they were to succeed nationally, which is a very real threat, they would be the biggest financiers of government we have ever seen (sans Bush) but they would revamp the government to reflect biblical law as the law of the land.

She is exhausting…but don’t take your eyes off her.

They’re not “teachers”, they are government employees and union members and are therefore evil and children should not be allowed near them. They’re made of Communism.

Alaskan government goes from dumb to dumberer … “My Pet Goat” just became “My Pet Goatee.”

Good news, teenage girls! Now you can all be like Bristol!

Feh. Palin is pandering to the base in anticipation of her run in 2010. Otherwise, she can’t scarf up the Federal pork fast enough. Watch the state quietly grab the money when the publicity dies down.

And the Power Tools, like all good wingnuts, have no interest in the education of other people’s children. Certainly Alaskans count as other people’s children.

The pig barely graduated from college, her idiot husband is illiterate and her kids are high school drop outs. Like most Alaskans they are hillbillies and have no concept of the value of education. As a bonus the pig thinks everything in the bible is true, which makes it easy not to think.

It is indeed hilarious that the pig, along with Cheney and the drug addict Rush (is that a real name?) are the leaders of the excrement party.

  7. Okay, Mark. I agree with your sentiment, but….

So that’s a little over $80M per state, right? I’ll take it in PA, where my local school district is facing a $12M deficit and wants to make fairly severe curriculum cuts.

Does anyone know where refused stimulus money will go?
