Al Franken, Well Worth The Wait

h/t to my old friend Froth for this link of Al Franken using the under-used tactic of reason to deal with a mob of Tea Baggers.

    The man is wickedly smart.

Oh, and if you’re coming to Pittsburgh for the G-20? Please don’t throw poop on me !

I was delighted when Al Franken was finally seated. For all this conservative bellyaching about “liberals” and the supposed “liberal domination” of government, there has, in reality, been very little true liberal power in our Capitol in more than 30 years, and a diminishing number of true liberals. The so-called liberals of today, many of them “new”, Clinton-era, or “blue dog” Democrats, would have been considered moderate or liberal Republicans 35 or 40 years ago…

Al Franken is a true, pragmatic liberal in the mold of Harry Truman, JFK, RFK, Hubert Humphrey, Walter Mondale, Teddy Kennedy, Dennis Kucinich, Russ Feingold, Barbara Boxer, Bernie Sanders, and the late Paul Wellstone. As such, he will prove to be a dedicated and much needed fighter for workers and the average citizen, and a breath of badly needed fresh air, in this time of corporate shills and big money dominance.

  3. It’s amazing to see this truly vile figure try and act like a rational human being. It must drive him nuts indeed to act civil. He is sharp and a good talker .. but the lines put forth here are the same B.S. Lines we’ve heard from all our elected officials in favor of Obamacare.

How is it that Al Franken, Kathlene Sebelius and the rest of the robots are suddenly experts on Health Care?? They’ve never held a job in this field, never run a business, don’t know the rules and regulations in existence … so really they are just parroting some party line.

Unlike the rest of us, Congress can’t even balance a budget nor get current outlays in the Black. Social Security and Medicare are just 2 examples. Government (Fed, State, and Local) is the biggest source of waste, by far, in this nation. What track record of success do they have?? None. So prove yourselves first, get the budget and deficit in order then trample my Health Care.

Also, I’m tired of this demeaning TeaBagger sh*t, slander stuff thrown out by the Left. You guys are a disgrace. These “mobs” or “Astroturf” are really patriotic concerned Americans. Seems anyone who dares ask a serious question about Health Care gets slandered. Meanwhile the Left is willing to accept anything Obama throws out there, no questions at all. Just bend over.

Fairly recent historical factoid: last time we had balanced budgets was during the Clinton era.
it was the debauched incompetent Bush administration and Republican majority that collapsed our economy, drove up record deficits and debt, all the while destroying what was left of any sane American foreign policy. You people (tea-baggers, neo-cons etc. etal) are the most uninformed disorientated individuals I have witnessed in all my years, and as far as I can see pose the greatest threat to the progress of this nation on a whole. With any luck, these marginal fringe ‘movement’ views will finally be relegated to the dust bin of history, and America can get back on a sane track again.
