Ryan/Rubio 2012 GOP Ticket?

Shortly after the polls closed on the recent mid-term election I noted that my dark horse candidate for the GOP in 2012 was Marco Rubio. Were Rubio a Democrat this would be a much more realistic possibility as Democrats do not suffer from the same “wait your turn” mentality that the Republicans do. That said, there is no reason why he should not show up on a ticket a Veep. Apparently Bill Kristol sees some of the same dark horse gold that I do and said as much today in his Weekly Standard blog.

Having just returned from the e21 and Manhattan Institute-sponsored Conversation with Paul Ryan (very ably conducted by Paul Gigot)–and having seen Marco Rubio speak recently as well, I’ll just say this: Wouldn’t it be easier just to agree now on a Ryan-Rubio ticket, and save everyone an awful lot of time, effort, and money over the next year and a half?

Now I am not so sure about Kristol’s top of the ticket pick of Paul Ryan considering that he is not even on the radar of potential 2012 hopefuls but who the hell knows. Based on the fact that Romney sits at the top of the current insider list there is bound to be clamoring for someone more viable to enter the mix, why not Ryan?
