Arizona and the US: It’s complicated

Last week the Arizona state legislature passed a bill with the goal of creating a panel with the power to ignore federal laws in both parts and entirety. Lawrence O’Donnell noted how this was a clear violation of the supremacy clause in the constitution, and was a job already filled by the courts.   He also noted how this law is effectively the first stages of secession, and that Arizona has changed its facebook relationship with the United States to “it’s complicated”.  I did some investigating, and it turns out that O’Donnell was right.
