Nas Puts It Down

This is the man that will hand Fox News a petition with 600,000 signatures on it demanding that they stop spewing racial propaganda against the Obamas and black people.  Fitting.

Juggernaut

Just got an email from the Obama camp.  Apparently they raised $52 million for the month of June with the average donation being $68.  And here I was worried that his fundraising might be flagging again.

What did McCain pick up in June?  20 something?

An Interview And Some Notes

Created: July 10th, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

A couple weeks ago I mentioned doing an interview for Skewz.com.  Skewz, in case you’ve never been, is actually a pretty neat site that not only aggregates headlines, but allows you to rate the bias so that when people come behind you, they know what they’re getting into.

Anyway, so the interview has been up for about a week now, and if you want to give it a listen or download it, you can do so here.

Some notes on the interview and an announcement (though not unexpected I suppose) below the fold.

Questioning the Unquestionable

Created: June 30th, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

That’s the apparent shitstorm we have slated for the day; is it kosher to question John McCain’s military experience in the context of this election season? That’s exactly what General Wesley Clark did yesterday on Face the Nation, and John Aravosis took it about three hundred steps further when he brought up the propaganda film that McCain participated in.

Now, I think John may have taken things a touch far, but in general, and this goes against much of what I’ve been saying in recent months, I think you have to question McCain’s service.

Newsweek No Longer An Outlier?

Created: June 25th, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

Validating Newsweek?” Oliver Willis’ post title asks, followed by a quick reference to a new LA Times poll that shows Obama surging to a twelve point lead over John McCain.  With Bob Barr and Ralph Nader thrown on the ballot, that lead jumps up to the lead that Newsweek gave Obama last week at fifteen points.  Is Oliver right?  Has Newsweek’s poll been vindicated?

We’re On The Map! (Updated X2)

My other blog focuses on, among other things, casual games and webtoys, so needless to say whenever someone comes up with a political webtoy I get a little thrill. This one doubly so because we’re actually on it.

The Name Game

I wanted to weigh in, at least to a degree, on the flap over Karl Rove’s little country club shot at Obama. Tas already hit the story up, and was suitably flip regarding it, but Rove’s less than subtle entrance into this race as a less than objective observer I think is the beginning of what will be one of the key things to watch over the next five months.

Moving Away From a Proprietary Fuel System (update)

When it comes to music, and mp3 players, I’ve yet to meet the person to actually give me a good hard sell on iPods.  Why not?

Because iPods are too focused on a proprietary system.

Correcting Black

Created: June 24th, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

I finally got around to reading the actual Fortune article that provided a stark contrast that I remarked on yesterday.  Or, at least, I read most of it.  Okay, maybe some of it.

The point being is that while I came to the article ready to absorb the whole thing, I kind of tripped up on a single point that I think needs to be corrected now, and frequently throughout the remainder of the campaign.

A Strange Contrast

Created: June 23rd, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

Kevin Drum brings up a rather revealing set of dueling interview answers by Barack Obama and John McCain for Fortune magazine.  I agree with Kevin that the differences couldn’t be more stark, and that on the surface it is yet another example of John McCain looking like a simpleton compared to Obama regarding the economy.

But I think Drum, at best, glances over what I think is an important possibility here.

“A Clear and Honest View”

Just in case the countless attempts to smear Obama thus far haven’t convinced you yet, a book scheduled to be released this August should make it abundantly clear that the right’s entire strategy for putting McCain in office is to positively bury Obama in mud.

George Carlin: R.I.P.

Created: June 23rd, 2008 | Written By: Kyle E. Moore

This one hits me pretty hard.

It was my dad who instilled in me a great love of comedians and their art.  For as different as our tastes were, perhaps the one thing that my father and I shared unconditionally were stand up comics.  For many years, that was our New Years Eve; watching HBO’s marathon of the great comics of the day; Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, and, at the very top of that list, was George Carlin.

You Say Public Financing’s Almost Dead Like It’s A Bad Thing
