CommentsCast, Episode 8 – They Have Boobs There…
Producing a podcast is not as easy as it looks, particulary the un-fun parts such as editing. This show was recorded exactly one week ago and spent interim resting on my hard drive awaiting three hours of uninterrupted edit time. The time was found and so here is the show.
This week I was joined once again by SylviaM and TAS, both of whom took an hour out of their late Saturday nights to join me for some banter. Topics covered on this episode include; Michelle Obama’s treatment in the right wing media, the economy, the State Department’s Easy button screw up, Rove’s pending testimony in front of the House Judiciary Committee and the latest from Darfur. Sadly, we ran into some technical difficulties toward the end of the show so a solid 10 minute discussion about Pakistan had to be edited out but overall it is a good show. Happy listening and please feel free to leave us your feedback.
By the way, even though I am less than happy with their performance in regard to our podcast, don’t forget to subscribe to CommentsCast via iTunes.

Michael Tedesco, who records and mixes all of the podcasts as well as hosting them, is away from his computer this Sunday. He celebrated his getting over the hill birthday this week so it’s allowed, but that doesn’t mean the jokes about viagra and Just For Men hair coloring won’t make an appearence when CommentsCast returns next week — along with news, talk, and random angry mutterings from a midget I’m holding hostage.

While I eventually settled on the current title for this episode, “Give Us Our Two Cents,” there was a significant amount of time during the post production when I wanted to to call it “Booger Whistle” or “Wheezer.” This is my way of saying please forgive me for not realizing that my new headset/microphone contraption would pick up the fact that I am struggling with a bit of a cold. Please, please try to ignore this – I promise to submit myself to a full steam bath prior to the next episode hopefully dislodging any potential future booger-whistles.

Seeing that TAS has lived up to his end of our bargain, I was forced to spend the past four hours doing post production on this CommentsCast 6. Between me and you, seeing him with Michelle Malkin makes it all worth it!
If you want in on the joke you will have to listen to this episode.
For the purpose of continuity, a few links were mentioned in this episode that I should repeat.

Real links for following either TAS or me on Twitter.
And lastly, a link to the app that has helped this humble blogger go completely paperless, Circus Ponies – Notebook 3.0.

My sincerest apologies to everyone for the delay in posting this week’s podcast. The good news is that if you waited until now you will be very pleased. Once I am joined this week by Kyle and TAS and we spend the hour talking about the plight of Pajamas Media, Blago and Economy.

We seem to be getting the hang of this thing. This is good for you, the listener, because the audio quality is getting significantly better and we are becoming more and more aware of our stuttering, pauses, um’s and uh’s so hopefully you will be spared them.
Following is a list of articles we discussed during this week’s podcast. It is worth noting that during the discussion of the Google Search article I erroneously made reference to TAS. The real statistics geek is apparently Dustin. I hope you can all forgive me.

In producing our second podcast this week we ventured once again into new territory (at least for us) by conducting a podcast with four participants; TAS, Kathy, Kyle and me. Now I have to admit that I have some broadcast experience having served first as a DJ and then as the Sports Director at WIDR 89.1 FM in my final year at Western Michigan University, but that doesn’t mean I have a clue when it comes to creating a podcast. The good news is this week we were able to employ the services of our resident “man behind the scenes” if you will, Dustin Metzger, who spent a ridiculous amount of time combing over our ums and uh’s to give you what is hopefully an enjoyable hour of podcasting fun. Many thanks Dustin!
Since this week’s news was dominated by two main topics, Blago and Israel, those were the ones we chose to focus our discussion. For some background information to accompany the discussion TAS has provided the following…
For further information of Israel’s connections to Islamist groups that led to the birth of Hamas, listen to Democracy Now! from 1/26/2006. Goodman interviews Robert Dreyfuss, the author of “Devil’s Game”, and he discusses these connections in detail.
For context on the conflict…it could take a couple shows to discuss all the context in any real detail, but I suggest people start learning for themselves by Googling “nakba” — Arabic for catastrophy. That’s what Palestinians call the 1948 war. Anyone looking for a good book that deals evenhandedly with both sides of the conflict, “The Lemon Tree” by Sandy Tolan is excellent. It’s a history book written like a novel, and only novel length to boot.
We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed recording.

As a child, I had a tendency to take the lazy route when trying to justify my need for instant gratification.
“Mom, so-and-so has a (insert your favorite toy/gadget/etc. here), can I have one?” little Mikey would say.
Which would invariably be followed by my mothers’ canned response, “if so-and-so jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge would you do that too?”
Today Comments from Left Field has jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge, joining the rest of the lazy political blogging world by producing our own podcast, CommentsCast.
Today’s podast, recorded a week ago Sunday December 14, is not actually the our first attempt in this area. Kyle and I actually recorded a test podcast the week prior but, for now, that will remain a demo only. As a result, we are classifying our first episode with a 1.5 leaving room to possibly pubish version 1.0 at some point in the future.
So, without further adieu I give to you CommentsCast Episode 1.5. Enjoy!
UPDATE: CommentsCast is now available on iTunes so you can keep up to date with the latest from your favorite bloggers on your iPod or iPhone. Alternatively (or in addition) you can subscribe to the RSS feed for CommentsCast.
UPDATE II: During this podcast I mentioned Chuck Pennacchio’s current efforts on behalf of the citizens of Pennsylvania to deliver universal single payer healthcare and Kyle suggested I provide a link. Well here it is; Health Care for All Pennsylvania.
